RE:

Annual software maintenance for G. E. Fanuc SCADA software

             I.      Intellution Software Maintenance   The City pays annual software maintenance for software used with GE Fanuc equipment used by the Utilities Department to manage their SCADA networks at all three plants.

II.      Intellution Software   The Intellution software being renewed is used by the Utilities Department to manage the SCADA networks and operate the GE Fanuc equipment controlled by the software.  This software is manufacturer specific and is purchased directly from the Manufacturer (G. E. Fanuc), but processed through the provider for our territory, Industrial Network Systems, (INS).  INS processes all orders of G. E. Fanuc software for all end-users, resellers and integrators in this area.  This is a sole source purchase.  To verify this, we contacted an integrator, the R.E. Pedrotti Co., and verified that they would also have the buy the G. E. Fanuc software through INS at the exact same price we would pay. The R. E. Pedrotti Co. verified that this is considered a sole source purchase and that purchase orders are required to be made out to the manufacturer (G. E. Fanuc), the sole source provider and orders processed through their territory representative Industrial Network Solutions.

       III.      Software Funding

The software is funded by the Utilities Department and is broken down as follows:

IV.      Action Requests  Information Systems is recommending that the City of Lawrence approve a purchase order in the amount of $38,320.55 to GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, Inc., c/o Industrial Network Systems to continue the City’s use of Intellution Software until March 1, 2010.
