RE:	Contractor Licensing Continuing Education

City licensed contractors are required to attend eight (8) hours of continuing education training per year in order to qualify for renewal of licenses the following year.  The City has an agreement with the Johnson County Licensing Program to provide continuing education training for Lawrence contractors.  The City collects the payment for this service as part of the annual license fee and pays Johnson County upon completion of the training. 

During the 2009 program year, it is anticipated 525 Lawrence licensed contractors will attend 4,200 hours of training, with the expected cost to be $70,875.  Authorization is requested to initiate a purchase order in the amount of $70,875 for payment to Johnson County for continuing education classes for Lawrence licensed contractors who will attend training during the 2009 program year.  The entire amount will not be spent if fewer contractors attend training.
