February 2009 Monthly Permit Report

There were 136 permits issued in February 2009, compared to 122 in 2008. Permit valuation was $4,808,607 compared to $9,147,160 last year. Fees were $37,951.70 compared to $48,947.33 last year. These statistics will be tracked throughout the year in the following table:

Two permits were issued for publicly funded projects, renovation of the women’s radiology suite at Lawrence Memorial Hospital South, 3500 Clinton Place, valued at $330,000; and the installation of an interior partition wall at Fire Station #4, 1911 Stewart Avenue, valued at $5,600.
Six permits were issued for new single-family dwellings, compared to three in February last year. The number of permits and total number of residential units will be tracked throughout the year in the following table, similar to permit valuation and fees:

The highest valued project for which a permit was issued in February was a “spec” mixed use building in the Bauer Farms development, 4801 Bauer Farm Drive, valued at $883,629. Four permits for new commercial projects have been issued in 2009, compared to one at this time last year, and 11 for the entire year in 2008.
