Background Information:
Staff elected to bid these vehicles this year because the City had not participated in the preparation of the Metro Bid Contract. Additional fees are assessed to agencies not participating in the initial contract. Manufacturer incentive packages for multi agency contracts were also depressed this year due to the economic situation. This purchase on the Metro bid would have cost the City $198,820.00. The individual bid process saved the City $1,924.00. Staff will continue to monitor the multi agency contracts and incentive packages to try to determine the most cost effective ways to purchase vehicles.
NINE (9) CROWN VICTORIA POLICE CARS – POLICE DEPARTMENT – B09015
The Police Department requested bids for nine (9) police cars. The nine police cars being replaced have high mileage and maintenance costs. The replacement of these vehicles follows our ongoing police car replacement requirements. This purchase was approved in the 2009 budgeting process.
