RE: Kaw Water Treatment Plant East Perimeter Fence Line Replacement Project – Set Bid Date.
Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at
the March 3, 2009 meeting.
Authorize the City Manager to set a Bid Date of April 14, 2009 for the Kaw
Water Water Treatment Plant East Perimeter Fence Line Replacement Project.
Bid # B09017.
Project History:
The Kaw Water Treatment Plant Perimeter Fencing is 40 + years old. In many spots around the Plant the fence is stretched & sagging. The existing gates were broken & welded so many times that the gates did not fit the openings any more, leaving holes big enough for someone to crawl through.
The first step was taken in 2006 by replacing the worst Gate on the Plant site with a new Cantilever Gate Meeting the Home Land Security Specifications. Later in 2006 two other Gates were replaced to meet those specifications. In September 2007 the West Perimeter Fence Line was replaced to meet Homeland Security Specifications of Fencing to be 8 foot overall height which replaced the 6 foot existing fence along the West Perimeter of the Kaw Plant.
Project Status: City Staff has finalized the bidding documents and the project is ready to be advertised for bidding.
The project is scheduled to be completed June 30, 2009. The projected cost is estimated to be $24,000.00.
Project Funding: Funding for this project will come from the Utilities Department operating Budget.
Action Requested: Authorize the City Manager to set a bid date of April 14, 2009 for the Kaw Water Treatment Plant East Perimeter Fence Line Replacement Project. Bid # B09017.
