There were 117 permits issued in January 2009, compared to 162 in 2008. Permit valuation was $2,553,334 compared to $3,104,090 last year. Fees were $22,559.77 compared to $30,064.77 last year. These fees will be tracked throughout the year in the following table:

One permit was issued for a publicly funded project, for work on exterior facilities at the Kaw Plant at 720 W. 3rd Street. The value of the work was reported to be $237,200.
Six permits were issued for new single-family dwellings, compared to two in January last year. A new single-family dwelling under construction at 117 N. Running Ridge Rd., valued at $1,000,000, was the highest valued single project for the month. The number of permits and total number of residential units will be tracked throughout the year in the following table, similar to permit valuation and fees:

The number of permits for remodel projects, mechanical/plumbing/electrical projects, and signs all decreased from a year ago, resulting in the overall decrease in number of permits.
