Lawrence Alliance Minutes

Meeting

Deb Taylor called the meeting to order at approximately 6:09 p.m. in the auditorium at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vermont. Minutes of the July 9, 2008 meeting were presented. Robbie made and Mike seconded a motion to accept the minutes. The minutes were approved on a voice vote.  

Members discussed the Diversity Roundtable discussion that the Alliance hosted on Sept 10. We agreed that the event was successful and that the dinner portion afterwards was a nice addition. The Board discussed holding future small "dinner gatherings" with other groups throughout the year in order to network in a casual environment. Suggestions were to meet at the Islamic Center in Jan or Feb, meet at St Johns later on, and possibly meet at a place on the Haskell campus. The idea is to start off with small groups that will hopefully produce good ideas and lead to larger gatherings.

Cynthia stated that we can have Festival of Cultures event in South Park on Sept 6. She gave Deb information to secure this date with Parks and Rec. The Board discussed ideas for this event.

Deb mentioned that Bob Hubert and Deb Drummet have resigned from the Board. The Board discussed adding members who would like to be a little more active in event planning. Deb stated that she would ask Susan Cooper and Asra Haq to join the Board.

Mike made and Robbie seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting at approximately 7:28 p.m. The motion was approved on a voice vote.
