Review minutes from July 17^th 2008  

The board review the minutes from July 17^th 2008.  Porter motioned to approve the minutes. Seconded by Smalter. Motion passed 4-0.

Review Board consolidation letter

The Board reviewed Board consolidation letter. Members had concerns that combining the boards into one would reduce expertise individual boards could provide on complex issues. The Board asked for input from staff on the reasoning for the proposal.

Margene Swarts explained with adoption of the International Family of Codes many of the provisions were contained in more than one code. This meant that any proposed amendments or other issues would have to be considered by more than one Board. She also said having one board would save on resources such as the purchase of code books and employee staff time. She pointed out that many other jurisdictions had gone to a single board.

The consensus of the Board was to keep the current Board makeup.
