RE:	Project No. PW 0816 – City Bid No. B09006 Set Bid Date for 2008 Sidewalk Gap Program

Please include the referenced item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the January 27, 2009 meeting:

Project Details: A sidewalk gap and rehabilitation program in the low and moderate income areas of the City was recommended by the Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) and approved by the City Commission.

Plans and specifications for this project have been completed by City engineering staff and the project is ready for bid letting. All construction work will be within existing city right of way; there will be no cost for property acquisition. All adjacent property owners have been notified about the project.

Project History:

December 1, 2007	Submitted the application for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to the Community Development Division for inclusion in 2008 program year proposals.
January-April, 2008	Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) review proposals and complete recommendation regarding CDBG funding.
May 6, 2008	City Commission reviews CDAC recommendations and approves funding for sidewalk gap program and sidewalk rehabilitation in the low and moderate income areas (see attached map).
Summer-Fall, 2008	Sidewalk plans developed by City staff.

Project Schedule:

February 17, 2009	Bid Opening
April, 2009 – October, 2009	Construct project

Project Funding:  100% of the construction cost of this project will be paid by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

Action Request: Set Bid Date of February 17, 2009 for City Bid No. B09006, Project No. PW 0816, 2008 Sidewalk Gap Program.
