RESOLUTION NO.  6819

A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION FOR LOW INCOME HOUSING TAX CREDITS TO THE STATE OF KANSAS BY TENANTS TO HOMEOWNERS, INC. 

WHEREAS, the City of Lawrence, Kansas has been informed by Tenants to Homeowners, Inc. that a housing tax credit application will be filed with the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation for the development of affordable rental housing located on two sites.  One site has three four-plexes at 2218, 2222, and 2226 Yale Road, Lawrence, Kansas 66044 with a legal description as follows:  Block 1, Lot 1, Accessible Residential Options West Subdivision, a replat of Lot 14 and a portion of Lot 3, Lot 4, Lot 13, and Lot 15, Centennial Park Addition No. 3, in the City of Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas.  The other site has two four-plexes at 1401 and 1405 E. 21^st Terrace, Lawrence, Kansas  66046, with a legal description as follows:  Lot 1, Accessible Residential Options East Subdivision, in the City of Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas. 

WHEREAS, this housing development will contain 20 units;

WHEREAS, the fully accessible units will be targeted to those with disabilities and elderly, with low incomes (below 60%MFI);

WHEREAS, the development will be an acquisition and rehabilitation;

WHEREAS, the property will have the following amenities: full accessibility, outdoor green common space, fountain, outdoor seating, covered picnic table, washer/dryer in each unit, garden area, BBQ grills, security fencing, accessible appliances, and Energy-Star ratings for extremely efficient utility bills;

WHEREAS, the developer has requested local assistance through building permit fee waivers for the nonprofit developer in the project;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

That the City of Lawrence support and approve the development of the aforesaid housing in the community, subject to City ordinances and the building permit process.  This resolution is effective until June 2010.  In the event that any of the characteristics mentioned above should change prior to the issuance of a building permit, this resolution is null and void. 

ADOPTED by the Governing Body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, this 20^th day of January, 2009.
