RE: |
617 W. 4th Street, unsafe structure
|
The City Commission adopted resolution No. 6813 on November 11, 2008, declaring the structure at 617 W. 4th Street unsafe and dangerous and ordering the repair or removal of the structure to commence on or before December 12, 2008.
The item was again discussed by the City Commission at its December 16, 2008 meeting. At that time the Commission voted unanimously to defer consideration of staff’s recommendation regarding the unsafe structure for 30 days to allow for the pulling of all necessary building permits, as determined by Development Services staff.
On January 9, 2009, staff received a memo from Darryl Graves as well as a bid issued by C.J. Wright Inc. to Jeanette Denton for painting the structure and re-glazing of all windows. Mr. Graves indicates in his memo that the following schedule is projected in the near future:
January 19, 2009 Roofing project to begin (Klinknett)
February 9, 2009 General contract bid to be secured.
As of the date of this memo, an application for a building permit has not been received.
Staff acknowledges that an additional bid has been obtained. However, the owner has failed to apply for a building permit as the City Commission had requested in December. A contractor did contact the Building Safety Manager with questions regarding this project; however, it is staff’s understanding that the contractor has declined the project.
Please let me know if you have questions concerning this. Thank you.
