Public Works is requesting to purchase two farm tractors and one pull behind 15 foot mowers off of the State of Kansas cooperative contract.  This is used to mow the levees and airport property.  The present equipment has high hours and major maintenance issues.  The tractors and mower would require extensive repairs before they can be used. 

The tractors cost $49,230.72 each and the mower costs $13,347.36, totaling $111,808.80.  This is 28% off list price.  We plan to sell the old tractors and mower on Gov Deals.

This purchase was budgeted in the 2009 budgeting process.

Recommendation Action:

Approve purchase for two farm tractors and one 15 foot mower for the Public Works Department from Deems Farm Equipment Co. off the State of Kansas cooperative contract for $111,808.80.  (Special Gas Tax-$98,461.44/Levee Maintenance-$13,347.36)
