CHEMICAL STOARGE TANKS – B08092

The Utilities Department requested bids for three (3) chemical storage tanks.  These tanks are to store liquid chlorine for the disinfection of water at the Kaw Water Treatment Plant.  They will replace the existing gas chlorine storage.  This equipment is part of the conversion from gas to liquid chlorine.  Five bids were mailed and this was advertised in the Lawrence paper and on the internet.  We received only one bid for the tanks because this is a protected sales area for this particular tank and JCI has the franchise.  This was a planned purchase as part of a capital improvement project.

Recommendation Action: 

Award bid for three (3) chemical storage tanks for the Utilities Department to JCI for $61,521.00.  (Utilities/Non-bonded Construction)
