CHEMICAL METERING PUMPS – B08091

The Utilities Department requested bids for five (5) chemical metering pumps.  These pumps are to feed liquid chlorine for the disinfection of water at the Kaw Water Treatment Plant.  They will replace the existing gas chlorine feeders.  This equipment is part of the conversion from gas to liquid chlorine.  Thirteen bids were mailed and this was advertised in the Lawrence paper and on the internet.  We received only one bid for the pumps because this is a protected sales area for this particular pump and Fluid Equipment has the franchise.  This was a planned purchase as part of a capitol improvement project.

Recommendation Action: 

Award bid for five (5) chemical metering pumps for the Utilities Department to Fluid Equipment for $27,855.00.  (Utilities/Non-bonded Construction)
