JANITORIAL SERVICE & SECURITY FOR PARKS & DOWNTOWN DEBRIS CLEANUP – B08090

The Parks and Recreation Department requested bids for contracted restroom/shelter cleaning, downtown debris pickup/removal and security. The security part of the bid is for locking fifteen restrooms seven days a week and three gates two days a week between April 16^th and October 31^st.  It was a three part bid and the City may award each part to separate vendors.  This was bid as a renewable contract for two additional years providing both parties agree and funds are available This purchase was budgeted in the 2008 budgeting process.

The Department has contracted these services for the past 4 or 5 years. Due to the odd working hours needed to do this work, and the shortage of funding for additional staff, this is the most cost effective method to accomplish this work.

Recommendation Action: 

Award bid for restroom and shelter cleaning to Jani-King of Kansas City for $10,250, for downtown cleaning to Smart Building Service for $8,775, and for park security to Bob’s Janitorial $9,198.  Total for all three services $28,223, for the Parks and Recreation Department.  (Parks and Recreation Districts #1, #2, & #3 and Downtown Public Parking Funds)
