RE:	617 W. 4^th Street, unsafe structure

The City Commission adopted resolution No. 6813 on November 11, 2008, declaring the structure at 617 W. 4^th Street unsafe and dangerous and ordering the repair or removal of the structure to commence on or before December 12, 2008.

As of December 11, 2008, staff has not been contacted by the owner or a representative concerning actions to be taken. Staff did call Mr. Graves, Jeanette Denton’s attorney, on December 9, 2008, for an update. Mr. Graves indicated he had attempted several times to meet with Ms. Denton. His attempts were unsuccessful.

Exterior inspections of the property do not reveal any significant changes with the exception of the removal of the tree that was growing against the west foundation wall.

Due to the extent of deterioration of this structure and the attractive nuisance this structure creates, it is staff’s recommendation that the City take actions to remove the unsafe condition, by removing said structure.
