RE:	2009 Concession Contract

The current contract for our parks and recreation concession operations ends December 31, 2008. Requests for proposals were sent out and opened on October 31, 2008. Two (2) proposals were received from Wiggles LLC and Cesare Catering.

Wiggles LLC, 8120 NE Kreipe Rd, Tecumseh, Kansas 66542, bid was for 24.75% of gross sales to be paid to parks and recreation and Cesare Catering, 3828 Stetson Dr, Lawrence, Kansas 66044 bid was for 19.75% of gross sales paid to parks and recreation with an additional $10,000.00 annual payment.

Recommendation

We have reviewed the proposals that were received and using 2007 gross sales receipts as a guide to determine projected commission revenues, we are recommending the following contract for operations of the concession stands at ball fields and aquatic centers for 2009.

Cesare Catering,: for the operation of the concessions at Youth Sports Inc, 4911 W 27^th Street; Clinton Lake Adult Softball Complex, 1501 Speicher Rd; Holcom Park Sports Complex, 2601 W. 25^th Street; Douglas County Fairground Baseball Fields, 2110 Harper Street, Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr. and the Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky. 19.75% of gross sales will be paid to Parks and Recreation with an annual payment of $10,000.00 to review annually through 2013.

For the past five (5) years Cesare Catering has been the concessionaire at the ball fields and the aquatic centers and has been successful in this operation.

We ask that this item be placed on the November 18^th, for City Commission’s consideration.
