Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:       Altrusa International is a service organization committed to community service, with a focus on efforts to support and promote literacy; and

WHEREAS:       Altrusa International has joined with the Lawrence Public Library and other community organizations to present the Second Annual River City Reading Festival; and

WHEREAS:       The mission of the River City Reading Festibal is to celebrate reading through an annual free festival for children, teens, and adults; and

WHEREAS:       More than forty-five authors and presenters will participate in the celebration of reading which will include author readings, book signings, and workshops for all ages;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael Dever, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Saturday, September 27, 2008 as the

“SECOND ANNUAL RIVER CITY READING FESTIVAL”

in Lawrence.
