Dear Pastor Teske:

The Lawrence City Commission will convene in the City Commission Chambers, 1^st Floor, City Hall, 6 East 6^th Street, Lawrence, Kansas on September 23, 2008 at 6:35 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, for the purpose of conducting a public hearing regarding a request for a distance restriction waiver.  Constance Wolfe, on behalf of the Lawrence Originals, is requesting a waiver of the distance restriction in the City Code that prohibits the sale or serving of alcoholic liquor within 400 feet from a school (K through Grade 12) or church.  The Lawrence Originals is applying for a temporary alcoholic beverage permit and is planning to sell beer and wine at a Food Festival event at South Park on October 8, 2008 from 5pm to 9pm.  A copy of the information received from Ms. Wolfe is attached.  Pursuant to City Code, all schools and churches within 400 feet of the proposed location are required to receive written notice of the public hearing date at least 30 days prior to the public hearing.  Your church is the only church or school within 400 feet of the event.
