RE:	2008 Overlay Program, Phase 1- Change Order No.1 and Final

Please include the referenced item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the September 16, 2008 meeting:

Project Description.  The 2008 Overlay Program Phase 1 (PW0808) project is part of the annually contracted pavement maintenance program.  The work included milling and overlaying of streets in and near the downtown Lawrence area which included Massachusetts from 6^th to North Park, 7^th from Vermont to New Jersey, New Jersey from 7^th to 8^th, and Kentucky from 6^th to 12^th.

Project Details.  The original contract bid price amounted to $491,995.60.  Due to significant increases in asphalt oil prices, this project saw an overall increase in the asphalt cost of $48,731.00.  Other quantities in the project were reduced by approximately $11,298.60 leaving a net increase to the original contract of $37,432.40.

Project Funding.  The overrun will be paid from the 2008 contracted street maintenance funds, account #001-3000-570.45-08.

Action Request.  Approve Change Order No. 1 to LRM Industries Inc. in the amount of $37,432.40.
