Long-Range Planning Work Program
|
This memo serves as an update on recently completed projects, projects in process and major projects that are scheduled for initiation as projects in the pipeline are completed. These lists focus mainly on long-range and comprehensive text amendment projects.
The following projects were completed during the first half of 2008:
§ Revised Southern Development Plan (January 2008)
§ Southeast Area Plan (February 2008)
§ Long Range Transportation Plan - T 2030 (March 2008)
§ Farmland Industries Redevelopment Plan (April 2008)
§ Development of a Mixed Use Zoning District (July 2008)
The following projects are currently in process:
§ Revisions to the Environmental Sensitive Lands standards (Planning Commission, September 2008)
§ Development of comprehensive homelessness facilities standards (Planning Commission, September 2008)
§ Revisions to Chapter 7: Industrial and Employment Related Land Use in Horizon 2020 (awaiting City Commission consideration)
§ Lawrence Smartcode (awaiting City Commission consideration)
§ West of K-10 Sector Plan (Planning Commission, September 2008)
§ K-10 and Farmer’s Turnpike Sector Plan (Planning Commission, October 2008)
§ Industrial Design Guidelines (Working with sub-committee on draft)
§ Environmental Chapter in Horizon 2020 (Working with sub-committee on draft)
§ Revisions to Chapter 8: Transportation in Horizon 2020 to ensure consistency with recently adopted long range transportation plan, T2030 (Staff is drafting)
§ MPO Re-designation (City and County Commission consideration in October)
§ Revisions to Chapter 10: Community Facilities in Horizon 2020 (Staff is drafting)
§ Comprehensive update to the County Zoning Regulations
The following projects have been identified as part of the future work program:
§ Review Urban Growth Area (UGA) boundaries (PC initiated as result of the annual review, May 2008)
§ Update to the Oread Neighborhood Plan (Oread Neighborhood request and City Commission direction, April 2008)
§ North Lawrence/Grant Township Sector Plan (Grant Township request)
§ South of the Wakarusa Sector Plan
