Please place the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the September 2, 2008 meeting:
Authorize Staff to distribute a Request for Proposals for a health care services agreement for the operation of an On-Site Health Center.
Project Description
Administrative Services and the Health Care Committee support the wellness initiative of operating a convenient on-site health center for employees and their dependents participating in the health care plan. Engaging plan participants to use preventive health services will reduce risk to the health care plan thereby lowering or maintaining claims costs. The success of the center is based on its utilization, and it is recommended that participation be incentivized. The Request for Proposals may be modified or canceled as is determined to be in the best interests of the city, and the deadline for submission is October 1, 2008.
Project Funding
Funding for the project will come from Health Insurance Fund reserves (Retained Earnings) as approved in the recommended 2009 City of Lawrence budget. Cost may range from $159,000 to $226,000 depending on the scope of the project.
Action Request
The City Commission is requested to approve and authorize Staff to distribute a Request for Proposals for a health care services agreement for the operation of an On-Site Health Center.
