Electrical Service Upgrade CMG |
Please include the following information on the consent agenda for the City Commission meeting of August 5, 2008.
Background In 2007 an RFP was issued to install emergency generators at a number of City facilities. The Central Maintenance Garage was included in this RFP. During the bidder inspection process it was determined the electrical service was not up to code. One phase of the three phase power coming into the building was too small and the service panels were at maximum capacity.
Project Status / Details: The specifications are complete. A pre-bid meeting will be set to answer questions and show the site to contractors. These repairs will need to be completed before an emergency generator or the tire shop can be put on line.
Project Funding: The actual cost of the upgrade is estimated to be $80,000.00. This expense was budgeted in the 2008 budget process.
Recommendation Central Maintenance staff request approval from the City Commission to set a bid opening date of August 19, 2008 for the electrical service project.
