RE:	Request to establish a STOP SIGN on Maple Street at 3^rd Street TSC 6/2/08_Item 4

Background:  On June 2, 2008, the Traffic Safety Commission heard a request to establish a STOP SIGN on Maple Street at 3^rd Street.

The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices provides guidance on when STOP signs should be used.  None of the criteria appear to be met; both streets are local streets; the speed limit on both streets is 30mph; and there has been one reported crash at the intersection during the past three years.

No one from the public spoke in favor of or against the request.

The TSC voted unanimously 8-0 to recommend denial of the request.
