RE:	Set Bid Date for Senior Center Roof Replacement

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the July 15th,  meeting:

Project History. 

The Building at 745-746 Vermont is presently being used by the Douglas County Senior Services and as Fire Medical Station #1. It was constructed in 1951 and Louis H. Spencer was the Architect. The building has two floors and a basement. 1^st floor is 13,500 sq. ft., second floor is 13,500 sq. ft., and the basement has 5,418 sq. ft. There have been numerous leaks in the past few years that have been repaired. The roof was scheduled to be replaced in 2006, but was deferred due to budget. The area to be replaced is on the Senior Center side of the building.

Project Status. 

Waiting a bid date and commission approval to proceed.

Project Details.

The roof for the North East section of the building will be replaced. The stone cap will be cleaned reused and new mortar.

Project Funding. 

This project was included in the 2008 Public Works Department Building Maintenance budget (001-3400-574-25.36).

Action Request. 

Set August 5, 2008, as bid date for Senior Center roof replacement project.
