TWO (2) ONE TON TRUCKS WITH DUMP BEDS & TOMMY LIFTS – B08059
Parks and Recreation requested two one ton trucks for their Landscape Division. These trucks carry two and three people as well as materials and supplies such as mulch, trees, mowers, dirt and fertilizer daily. They will also be used to pull a tandem axle trailer carrying a skid loader. Three options were requested, overhead strobe lights, cab steps, and tool boxes, totaling an additional $2,306.00. These options are for safety and security.
Laird Noller submitted two bids. The low bid included a tommy lift from Kranz, which does not meet specifications. The alternate from Laird Noller with the Knapheide tommy lift does meet all specifications.
The trucks in service now, units 536 and 537, have high usage hours and are having mechanical problems. The Central Maintenance Supervisor recommended them for replacement.
This purchase was budgeted in the 2008 budgeting process.

Recommendation Action:
Award bid for two (2) one ton trucks with dump beds and tommy lifts with options for the Parks and Recreation Department to Laird Noller Automotive for $59,688.00.
