On June 24, 2008, the City of Lawrence opened proposals for the following:

Project 14-CP4-407(BD) - George Williams Way, 6^th Street (US-40) to Overland Drive

Project 15-CP5-407(BD) - George Williams Way, Overland Drive to North City Limits

Street, Storm Sewer, Waterline and Sanitary Sewer Improvements

Project Details: The project includes the construction of George Williams Way from 6^th Street to the north city limits, including streets, sidewalks, multi-use paths, storm sewer, waterline and sanitary sewer improvements.

All necessary right of way and easement documents have been executed by the appropriate property owners.

Project Schedule: Construction will begin this summer shortly after the contract is signed. Depending on weather conditions, this project is expected to be completed within about 9 months after starting construction.

Project Funding: The improvement district is paying for 100% of the cost except the city-at-large will pay $200,000. The City’s at-large share of the improvement district has not changed since the district was initially proposed in 2007.

Action Request. Approve bid from King’s Construction Co., Inc. for Projects 14-CP4-407(BD) and 15-CP5-407(BD) in the amount of $2,210,153.40 provided the contractor can meet the terms established in the contract documents.
