ORDINANCE NO. 8290
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS CONCERNING MUNICIPAL COURT FEES FOR THE MAILING OF NOTICES PURSUANT TO K.S.A. 8-2110 AND AMENDMENTS THERETO.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:
Section 1. Chapter 12, Section 12-108 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2008 Edition, and amendments thereto, is hereby enacted to read as follows:
12-108 FEES FOR MAILING OF NOTICE OF INTENT TO SUSPEND DRIVING PRIVILEGES FOR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH A TRAFFIC CITATION.
Pursuant to K.S.A. 8-2110 and amendments thereto, if an individual fails to comply with a traffic citation, except for illegal parking, standing or stopping, and the Municipal Court mails notice of the potential suspension of the individual’s driving privileges the Municipal Court shall charge the individual a fee of $5.00. This fee shall be in addition to all other reinstatement fees, penalties and other assessments.
Section 2. Severability. If any section, clause, sentence, or phrase of this ordinance is found to be unconstitutional or is otherwise held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect the validity of any remaining parts of this ordinance.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be effective on and after its publication as provided by law.
