Project History.  Speed cushions on Lawrence Avenue between 9th Street and Harvard Road were approved as part of Resolution 6728 on July 17, 2007.

 

August 1, 2005

Request heard and approved by Traffic Safety Commission.

August 16, 2005

Traffic Safety Commission recommendation approved by City Commission.

2006

City Commission approved $250,000 for 2007 budget for sidewalks and traffic calming projects.

June 19, 2007

City Commission considers recommended sidewalk and traffic calming projects.

July 17, 2007

City Commission approved Resolution 6728 authorizing the issuance of bonds for projects outlined in the attached memo.

 

Project Description/Status. 

·         Construct two speed cushions on Lawrence Avenue between 9th Street and Harvard Road.

·         Sidewalks on Trail Road, 4th Street, and 6th Street have been completed.

·         Plans for the pedestrian crossing on Louisiana were included in the 2008 Overlay and Curb Repair Program, Phase 2, which bid on June 3, 2008. 

·         Plans for the 18th Street diverter are complete and will bid after the 19th & Louisiana project is completed. 

 

Project Details.  Plans were developed in-house by City staff.  These speed cushions are similar to those installed on Folks Road.  Emergency services have reviewed the plan and are satisfied.

 

Project Funding.  The cost is being paid for with general obligation bonds issued by Resolution 6728.

 

Action Request.  Set a bid date of June 24, 2008 for 03-TC1-108(C): Lawrence Avenue, Harvard Road to 9th Street – Traffic Calming Improvements.
