ONE (1) TRAILER MOUNTED VACUUM
EXCAVATION MACHINE – B08042
Utilities
Distribution System requested bids for a trailer mounted vacuum excavation
machine. This machine does many things
and more appropriately should be called a hydro excavation/valve & hydrant
turner. It is use to vacuum out valve pits and hydrant
pits and used to turn stuck valves and hydrants. This is a major piece of equipment for the
Utilities Department. Distribution
System has grown significantly and with the additional vacuum machine they will
be able to devote two trucks full time to the valve maintenance program which
will improve customer service and increase productivity. The valve truck currently in the fleet will
continue to be used by the valve maintenance crews for cleaning functions.
The low
bid from Vermeer Great Plains does not meet our specifications. The following items do not meet the bid
specifications: suction hose and wand,
blower, debris filtration, dumping debris hydraulics, trailer, valve turner
torque, hydraulic control valve, hydraulic disc brakes, microprocessor
controller, manual override, color display, valve management software, data
transfer system, and operational torque gauge.
The bid from EH Wachs Company meets all specifications.
This purchase
was budgeted in the 2008 budgeting process.
