Keel introduced our new bookkeeper
Darlene Secondine. She works at the
Geological Survey and is used to working with our software from other
accounting jobs. She and her husband
moved to Lawrence about a year ago for his job at Haskell. Secondine will be working with Boley, Ground,
and Keel to assign new class codes.
Meeting called to order at 5:45 by
Keel.
Hodge moved and Boley seconded that the
financial documents for January be approved.
Motion passed.
Minutes approved pending the name of
the lady who is chaperoning the Hiratsuka trip.
Kennedy is to supply that name.
Tsubaki reported that he is attempting
to get in contact with Janeal Krehbiel regarding the possibility of the
Lawrence Children’s Choir performing in Hiratsuka.
Our dues to the International Sister
Cities are $680 and are currently due.
Discussion about our involvement with the international organization and
the international conference to be held in 2008 followed. Schumn moved and Hodge seconded that we pay
the dues. Motion passed. The international conference will be held
July 16-19 in Kansas City. The board
will discuss in March the number of registrations that we will buy.
Keel discussed our webpage
presence. It is lacking consistency
between the two friends groups and is in need of some updating and work. The city’s web master reports to Lisa Patterson
and is a person we should also work with.
Josserand will chair a committee to get our webpages updated. It was also suggested that Jon Barta and his
wife be contacted to represent Hiratsuka and that Frank Baron be contacted to
possibly represent the Eutin side.
Josserand and Hodge gave a Board
Vacancy Report regarding possible recommendations to the mayor for our
vacancies. The board will be forwarding
information to the mayor regarding our recommendation.
Schumm nominated Josserand as
secretary. Hodge seconded. Motion passed. Josserand will take over from Hyler in March.
The Third Sister City committee
consists of five members and will need to publicly post their meeting dates.
The Scholarship Fundraiser Committee
reported that ways to collect money for the scholarships need to be expanded. Their recommendations are as follow:
Meeting adjourned at 7:00.
Next meeting March 12, 2008.
