Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

 

 

WHEREAS:   Sertoma International was founded in 1912 in Kansas City, Missouri and the Lawrence Sertoma Service Club was chartered on September 25, 1929 and has been providing service over the past seventy-four years in this community; and

 

WHEREAS:   The Lawrence Sertoma Club will be hosting its 10th. Annual Bar-B-Q Cook-off in Broken Arrow Park on Saturday, May 10, 2008; and

 

WHEREAS:   The public is invited to attend this event and enjoy the sights, sounds, and aroma from the numerous teams competing in the cook-off with the grand champion advancing on to compete in the American Royal Cook-off; and

 

WHEREAS:   The funds raised from this event will be used to continue Sertoma’s service projects for the community including sponsorship of the 7th annual Schiefelbusch Communication Camp;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael Dever, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Saturday, May 10, 2008 as

 

“SERTOMA BAR-B-Q COOK-OFF DAY”

 

and urge the citizens of this community to partake of great Bar-B-Q and support the Lawrence Sertoma Club in providing SERvice TO MAnkind.
