RE:	Police Patrol replacement vehicle

Background

Police unit 044 was damaged beyond repair in a traffic accident 04-26-2008. We will seek restitution from insurance for this replacement.

Current Status:

Three estimates of needed repairs have been received from local body shops; all indicating costs of repair exceeding replacement cost of the vehicle. Shawnee Mission Ford was contacted and agreed to sell us a replacement Crown Victoria for the same cost as our last bid ($21,783.00). We will need to have the order processed before May 16, 2008, the cut off date for 2008 Police Interceptor orders.

Funding: 

The replacement would be funded through the Police Department budget until restitution is made.

Action Request:

Approve the purchase of a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor from Shawnee Mission Ford for $21,783.00.
