CURED-IN-PLACE-PIPE PROJECT – UTILITIES – #B08027

Part of the Utilities Department’s efforts at Inflow/Infiltration (I/I) reduction is to repair/reconstruct existing sewer lines that are a source of I/I. Cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) is one of the methods used.  The CIPP method involves lining the inside of old pipes without excavation, thus there is very little disruption above ground.  The Utilities Department has a multi-year plan to repair/reconstruct lines in older sections of the City using this trenchless method.

The bid was written to include two additional years providing funds are available.

Year 1 (2008) bid on 626 feet of 10” pipe, 2,462 feet of 12” pipe, 11,126 feet of 8” pipe

Year 2 (2009) bid based on 15,000 feet of 8” pipe

Year 3 (2010) bid based on 15,000 feet of 8” pipe

The bid also required the contractor to be in business for a minimum of three years and installed a minimum of 50,000 feet of the product bid.  SAK Construction did not meet these requirements.  This purchase was budgeted in the 2008 budgeting process.
