RE:	Downtown Street Light – parking meter improvements – 7^th and New Hampshire

Background:

Free State Studios is completing a project on the northeast corner of 7^th and New Hampshire. As part of the project, the new style pedestrian level street lighting with parking meters is planned to be installed, similar to the lighting in front of Hobbs Taylor Lofts on New Hampshire Street.

The total cost of the lighting along 7^th and along New Hampshire Street is estimated at over $40,000. The City paid a portion of the street lighting and meter installation adjacent to the Hobbs Taylor Lofts development in the 700 block of New Hampshire. It is recommended that the City expend $25,000 to install lighting - parking meters in conjunction with the Free State Studios project. The funding for the City’s share would come from the City’s Parking Fund.

Action Requested:

Authorize $25,000 from the City’s Parking Fund toward the project to install pedestrian level street lighting with parking meters along the corner of 7^th and New Hampshire Streets. Authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Free State Studios to complete the project.
