SALT/SAND SPREADER – PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT – #B08034

Public Works/Street Division requested bids for a salt/sand spreader. The spreader will be placed on a new dump truck that is on order. It is used for spreading a salt/sand mix on the streets during snow.

American Equipment’s bid A is a Hi-Way brand and bid B is a Warren brand. The Street Division’s spreaders are nearly all Warren brand. Due to this all spare parts stocked are for the Warren spreaders and therefore our recommendation is to purchase the second low bid from American Equipment Company, the Warren brand spreader.

The spreader is ordered early in the year to allow for delivery time and mounting on the truck. It should be ready by mid October. This purchase was approved in the 2008 budgeting process.
