RE: |
April 15, 2008 City Commission Agenda |
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the April 15, 2008 meeting.
Renew contract with Mayer
Specialty Services, LLC, for the 2008 Sanitary Sewer Manhole Rehabilitation Project.
History:
Part of the Utilities Department’s efforts at Inflow/Infiltration (I/I) reduction is to rehabilitate existing sanitary sewer manholes that are a source of I & I. The manholes are rehabilitated by repairing defects and then spraying the interior of the manhole with a fiber reinforced cementitious mortar. The process will provide a monolithic liner capable of stopping I & I and restore structural integrity.
The Utilities Department has a multi-year plan to repair/rehabilitate manholes in various sections of the City. Manholes are selected for rehab on the basis of several factors. These factors include:
· Manhole defects (inspection rating system) based on maintenance and inspection records.
· Manhole age and construction components
· Presence of I & I
· Sanitary sewer manholes associated with 2008 Cured in Place Pipe Project
On June 5, 2006 bids were opened for the 2006 Manhole Rehabilitation program. The vendors also bid on costs for 2nd and 3rd year contract renewal. Six vendors bid on the project and the results are shown below.

Project Status:
The 2007 Manhole Rehabilitation program began July 2007 and was completed in December of 2007. The results were satisfactory and the Utilities Department wishes to renew the contract with Mayer Specialty Services, LLC for the 2008 work. The 2008 project includes 159 manholes which translate to 1703 vertical feet. The average depth of each manhole is 11 feet.
Project Funding:
Funding for the Sanitary Sewer Manhole Rehabilitation Project will come from the non-bonded construction fund for 2008.
Action Request:
Utility Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to execute a contract agreement and purchase order with Mayer Specialty Services, LLC in the amount of $120,000.00 to complete the 2008 Sanitary Sewer Manhole Rehabilitation Program.
Thank you for your assistance. Please advise if you have any questions.
