RE: |
Change Order for the Lime Residuals removal contract to RD Johnson at Clinton Water Treatment Plant |
Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for
consideration at the March 11, 2008 meeting:
Request approval to increase
authorization from $120,000 to $170,000 for the removal of an additional
10,257 CY of lime residuals.
On
January 2, 2008, purchase order #068412 was awarded to RD Johnson in the amount
of $120,000 to remove lime residuals at the Clinton Water Treatment Plant. This
most recent purchase order was amendment number 1 to the original contract
dated October 26, 2006 to RD Johnson for lime residuals removal at the
Wastewater Treatment plant on East 8th street. Amendment #1 has been utilized in full to
remove approximately 10,077 CY or residuals. The projected amount of funding
was not sufficient to remove all the residuals in place. Another 10,257 CY has been calculated to be
removed from the lagoon.
Project Status/ Details
RD
Johnson is currently a subcontractor also working on the Clinton Water Plant
expansion. RD Johnson’s equipment and staff are on site and have completed
removal of the original contracted amount of lime residuals. Approximately
10,257 CY of lime residuals remain to be removed. If this extra work was bid
out separately it would cost more money due to additional remobilization and
timing of the work. Construction work is
slow at this time of year which benefits the city in gaining a reduced cost for
the additional lime residuals removal as a change order. In addition, the City has agreed to allow
additional soil spoils that were removed by RD Johnson from the plant expansion
to be retained on site in the event they can be used to stabilize the western
side of the plant’s process site or be used off site as additional fill
material.
Project Funding
Funding
for this project is through the Utilities operating budget.
