Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS: In 2008, the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee is celebrating its twenty first year as an organization in Lawrence; and

WHEREAS: The parade committee encompasses four basic themes:

First, to honor Irish Americans and their contributions to America;

Second, to celebrate the legend and spirit of St. Patrick through a fun, good old-fashioned parade;

Third, to promote an atmosphere of benevolence, friendship, and cooperation through the parade and other associated events; and

Fourth, to support and exemplify the idea that charity and goodwill begins at home, benefiting your friends, neighbors, and the Lawrence community; and

WHEREAS: This years’ parade will be dedicated to the men and women of the military; and

WHEREAS: The Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is self-supporting, and depends solely on the resources of interested businesses and citizens who donate their time, talents, and good humor to sponsor worthwhile charitable causes on a yearly basis;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sue Hack, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Monday, March 17, 2008, for the day of the City of Lawrence’s

“TWENTY FIRST ANNUAL SAINT PATRICK’S DAY PARADE”
