Project Description.
This project includes the construction of a Traffic Signal at the intersection of West 6th Street and Congressional Drive. It is anticipated that some miscellaneous minor items, e.g. sidewalk removal and replacement, utility relocation, etc. may be necessary to complete construction of the Traffic Signal.
This project also includes the construction of a raised median located south of Congressional Circle on Congressional Drive. The median will be approximately 6 feet wide, 20-30 feet long, with colored/stamped concrete. The engineering services for the raised median will be performed by the City Engineering staff and are not included in the scope of services to be performed by the Consultant.

Estimated Project Cost / Funding
This project will be funded by forming a Benefit District. Public Hearing for the Benefit District was held by the City Commission on February 12, 2008.
Estimated cost of the improvements is $331,000 including design, construction, inspection, administration, legal, and bonding costs.
Consultant Selection
The city received six proposals for Engineering Design Services for the proposed Traffic Signal at West 6th Street and Congressional Drive. City staff has reviewed each proposal carefully and is recommending BG Consultants, Inc. for this project.
Action Request
Staff requests the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to enter into an Engineering Contract with BG Consultants, Inc. for the amount of $14,614.50 for completion of Engineering Design Plans and Specifications for the proposed Traffic Signal at the intersection of West 6th Street and Congressional Drive.
