Solid Waste
Services for Oread Neighborhood

 - Much of the Oread Neighborhood is provided with dumpsters
due to the high density of the area and large number of alleys where
service is located.  Most of these are serviced twice per week rather than
once per week as most residential areas receive.

 - Alley and street right-of-way litter control is provided
on most Fridays.  This involves picking up all litter along the alley
ways, cleaning out the dumpster enclosures and collection of litter along
the streets up to the sidewalks (or hilly slopes which are bordering some
streets).  We do not pick up litter from residents yards.  Neighborhood
litter control is always performed before home football games and before
other KU functions such as graduation.

 - Bulky items are picked up at least once per week in the
neighborhood, whether called in or not.

 - During student move-in/move-out times the trash is
generally collected on a six-day per week basis until the area is cleared
     of trash.

Note:  Some other neighborhoods, mostly ones with alleys,
receive litter control but on a greatly reduced frequency than the Oread
Neighborhood.
