Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) and the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) entered into an agreement between regional councils that allow members of MARC to use the H-GAC cooperative purchasing program contracts. This arrangement is administered by the Kansas City Regional Purchasing Cooperative (KCRPC). Most items purchased off this cooperative contract can be purchased through local vendors.

Public Works/Stormwater is requesting to purchase a track loader off the H-GAC cooperative contract. The loader is used for heavy digging, ditch work, rip-rap placement and levee maintenance work. The present track loader is a 1999 model that has high hours and major maintenance issues and is at the end of its service life. We have been monitoring comparable track loaders on Gov Deals and find they have been selling for between $7,500 and $17,050. We have been offered $16,850.00 trade in on the new track loader. We feel this is a reasonable price for its condition. The track loader purchase was budgeted in the 2008 budgeting process.

Recommendation Action:

Approve purchase from Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. for one (1) track loader off the

H-GAC cooperative contract in the amount of $161,850.58 less trade - $16,850.00, total loader price $145,000.58 (Public Works/Stormwater)
