RE:	February 5, 2008 Agenda Item Amendment No. 1 to Engineering Contract/BG Consultants GWW Design Services

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the February 5, 2008 meeting:

Project History/ Details: The project includes the construction of George Williams Way from 6^th Street to the north city limits, including streets, sidewalks, stormwater, and waterline improvements. The project is on schedule to bid this spring.

BG Consultants was selected to provide the project design. A right-turn lane from 6^th Street north onto GWW is needed for the anticipated traffic volumes; additional cost for design is $9,091.44. This was not in the original scope of services for this project. Additionally, contract book and specifications need to be completed by the engineering firm for an additional cost of $2,061.90. Total cost of the amendment is $11,153.34.

Project Funding. The improvements are funded through benefit district financing with the city participating up to a maximum of $200,000.

Action Request. Authorize City Manager to sign Amendment Number 1 with BG Consultants in the amount of $11,153.34 for additional services for George Williams Way.
