Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the November 27, 2007 meeting:

Approval of Cured-In-Place-Pipe unit price contract with I-Con Underground LLC in the amount of $76,781.52 for the 8^th and Michigan Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project (UT0702 CS)

Project History.  This project is identified in the 2003 Wastewater Master Plan project recommendations as project # CS04-08, current Project #UT0702 CS, and given a budget of $250,000 for design and construction.

Project Details.  Design of this project is being conducted by Utilities Department staff.  Phase 1 will involve the cured-in-place (CIPP) lining of several pipeline segments under existing contract prices derived from competitive bids in 2005. At that time, a bid for CIPP work was awarded, with options to renew for 2006 and 2007.  Phase 2 will involve open cut pipe installation and point repairs, and will occur in the first quarter of 2008.

Project Status.  The lining (CIPP) portion of the project has been identified (see attached map) and previously bid contract prices have been verified.  The Utilities Department wishes to complete this phase in mid to late December 2007 while flows are minimized due to the KU winter break.

Project Funding.  The project is funded by the non-bonded Utilities Department CIP construction fund.

Action Request.  Utility Department staff requests approval of the unit price contract with I-Con Underground LLC in the amount of $76,781.52.
