October 9, 2007 City Commission Consent Agenda Item |
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the October 9, 2007 meeting:
Set a bid opening date of October 23, 2007, for construction of an equipment storage building at the City’s wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) (Bid Number B07064)
Project Description
This project will include the labor and material to construct a sixty foot (60’) by sixty foot (60’) pre-engineered metal building at the WWTP. The building will be used to house department of utility vehicles and equipment, to provide a protected, secure and readily accessible storage.
Project History
The wastewater utility currently has several pieces of mobile equipment (service trucks, portable generators, wheel loaders) that are stored outside leaving them exposed to ultraviolet light and rain in the summer and ice/snow in the winter. Providing shelter for this equipment will not only allow the department to realize a longer life cycle of this equipment but according to central maintenance staff will save several hundred dollars per unit per year. The most important benefit will be in reducing emergency response time during severe weather. Currently, the site plan is being updated in accordance with Planning Department requirements, with requisite Planning approval to be obtained prior to construction. Building permits from the Neighborhood Resources Department will be obtained prior to construction.
Project Funding:
Funding for this project will come from the Department of Utilities wastewater 2007 operating and maintenance budget (Division Accounts 501 7301 583 6008 and 501 7410 584 6008).
Action Request: Staff requests approval from the City Commission to set a bid date of October 23, 2007.
