RE:	October 9, 2007 Agenda Item A-07-06-07; Island Annexation Ordinance for .952 acres; NE Corner of E 1700 and N 1300 Roads

On September 20, 2007, the City Commission approved Resolution 6738 requesting the Board of County Commissioners of Douglas County, Kansas make findings and determinations regarding the annexation of the .952 acres.

On October 3, 2007, the Board of County Commissioners considered Resolution 6738, voted to approve the resolution, and made findings that “the annexation of such land will not hinder or prevent the proper growth and development of the area or that of any other incorporated city located within such county.”

Since the Board of County Commissioners of Douglas County, Kansas has approved the annexation of the property, the City may proceed with the annexation of the property.

Staff recommends approving the annexation ordinance.
