Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the August 28, 2007 meeting:

Approval of Change Order No. 2 (FINAL) for KLINK Resurfacing Contract – Project No.1-SR1-107(S) Total change order amount is a deduction of $29,861.55.

Project History.  The KLINK program is an annual road maintenance contract that is partially funded by KDOT for use on state routes within the city. This year’s project was the milling, patching and resurfacing of Iowa from 6^th St to Yale and from Irving Hill Road to 23^rd St.  The contract was awarded to LRM on June 5, 2007 for $478,963.74. State funding covers $200,000 of the cost. Change Order No. 1 for $8,281.20 was approved on August 14.

Project Details. This change order includes the cost adjustment for asphalt oil, due to the volatile market, as provided in the contract as well as the final quantity adjustments for all bid items.  

Project Status.  The project was complete on August 8, 2007.  Final contract amount was $457,383.39, which is $21,580.35, or 4.5%, below the original bid price.

Project Funding. The KLINK project is funded from general obligation bond proceeds and state funding.

Action Request.  Public Works staff requests approval of Change Order No. 2 (FINAL) for a deduction of $29,861.55.
