RE: |
agenda item - Clinton Plant Polymer
|
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for the August 14, 2007 meeting:
Polymer, a water treatment chemical, needs to be ordered for the Clinton Water Treatment Plant for the remainder of 2007. Only two providers are authorized to bid on this item. On 08/03/07, GS Robins Company quoted .5500 per pound for Robinfloc 4714. Ondeo-Nalco quoted .5700 per pound for Nalcolyte 8186.
Details: Nalcolyte 8186 has been used at the Clinton Water Treatment plant as the primary coagulant for 15 years. In the past six months, Robinfloc 4714 passed the requirements of the Water Treatment Division, including a plant test, to be added to our approved provider list. No other providers have been approved thus far. This is a critical treatment process to ensure the drinking water will meet the regulatory requirements to provide safe drinking water.
Funding: This purchase will be funded from the Clinton Treatment Plant’s chemical line item of the 2007-operating budget.
Action Request: Staff is requesting approval to issue a purchase order for a 6 month supply to the GS Robins Chemical Company for $49,500.00 (includes freight) for 90,000 pounds of chemical.
