ONE (1) SKID STEER LOADER – B07047

The Parks and Recreation Department requested bids for a skid steer loader and optional angle broom attachment.  The new unit will be used nearly everyday by park districts #2 and #3 to load bulk materials, perform excavation work, dig holes, move heavy pallets, move and install park amenities and all types of snow removal activities.  It will replace unit 506, a 1990 Bobcat, which qualifies for replacement under our equipment replacement schedule.  The equipment replacement schedule is based on age, mileage, hours of use, and cost of maintenance and upkeep.  The low bid from Berry Tractor & Equipment does not meet the specifications.  Their bid does not meet the operating capacity weight or the tipping load weight.  KC Bobcat’s bid does meet the specifications.  The bid included a trade for unit 506 in the amount of $7,000.00.  The Bobcats listed on GovDeals and ebay have price ranges from $7,200.00 to $8,800.00 depending on the age, condition and hours.  We also looked for Bobcat prices on Machinery Trader, an internet site that sells construction equipment.  The asking price on this site ranges from $6,700.00 to $8,900.00 depending on the year, 1985 through 2002 equipment. Unit 506 has higher hours and will need repairs to the hydraulic cylinder before it can be used.  This purchase was budgeted in the 2007 budgeting process.
