RE: |
Ordinance No. 8127 - 24th Street & Ponderosa Drive |
Background: On June 4, 2007, the Traffic Safety Commission heard a request to change the YIELD signs on Ponderosa Drive at 24th Street to STOP signs.
Police Department crash records show five (5) right-angle reported crashes during the past three (3) years; three (3) of them involving injuries.
The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices states that “STOP signs should be used if…crash records indicate a need for control by the STOP sign.
There was no public comment at the meeting, however, in addition to the request, the commission received a letter in support of the request.
The TSC voted 6-2 to recommend the change; Commissioners Miller and Woods did not feel that five crashes in 3 years was significant.
Action Request: Adopt Ordinance No. 8127 on first reading.
